Welcome to Rogue River Counseling.
Please review all documents and complete forms as necessary. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with your therapist during your first session.
Expectations of the Client
Believe it or not, the number one factor for success in therapy is the client themselves. We are here to be a guide, witness and encourager to your journey. You have every right to expect us to be physically, mentally and emotionally present during your session, to provide honest and accurate feedback, and to be competent in our therapeutic approach and practice. We also have expectations of you the client. Please be as present emotionally and mentally as you can be. We will often assign tasks to be completed outside of the therapy session, and expect you to at least attempt to tackle these tasks. We also ask that you please communicate with us regarding your needs, expectations, schedule and other concerns.
Missed and Canceled Appointments
Please note that appointments are reserved for you. When an appointment is missed, or cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment, it is difficult for the therapist to make use of that time. Therefore, we charge the full appointment fee for any appointment cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment time.
We certainly understand that unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances may occur causing a missed or late cancelled appointment. We will address these circumstances as they happen, and reserve the right to waive the charges as each therapist sees fit.
Communication with your Therapist
Periodically there is a need to consult with your therapist in-between your normally scheduled sessions. The therapist will make every effort to respond to your request for consultation within the his/her normal business hours. Please note that should the consultation require more than 15 minutes of time a charge will be incurred by the client.
We can be reached either by email or telephone for all communication requests, including scheduling and consultation. Our goal is to respond to messages within one business day. Please note that WE DO NOT RESPOND TO TEXT MESSAGES.
If you are experiencing an emergency and are not able to reach your therapist, then call 911 or go immediately to your local emergency room.
Length and Duration of Therapy
Most therapy sessions run between 45-50 minutes, beginning at the appointed time. There are times when you and your therapist may schedule 75 minute sessions. It is in your benefit to arrive a few minutes in advance of your appointment, as we make every effort to end our sessions on time, regardless of your arrival time. Please note that the fee is independent of the arrival time of the client. At no time may the therapy session take place while either the therapist or the client is driving.
Fees and Payment
Currently the fees for therapy with Ann Taliaferro are as follows:
45-50 minute session: $ 165.00
75-80 minute sessions: $ 255.00
Payment is expected at time of service, unless otherwise discussed with therapist. We accept cash, check or credit card.
We charge $1500 per day for any expert witness or subpoena work.
While we do not accept insurance, many of our clients are able to be reimbursed for a portion of their fee. Please feel free to speak with your therapist if you would like to submit a receipt to your insurance company, and we will provide you with the information you will need.
Although we do not employ a sliding scale, please discuss with your therapist any financial hardships. We will certainly make an effort to accommodate your needs.
Release of Information Form
All information obtained/derived during the course of treatment is fully confidential; disclosures you share with your therapist are confidential unless you have SIGNED a consent form to release part or all of the information. Therefore, to either release or obtain information from a specific individual or agency, a Release of information must be obtained.
Exceptions to this guideline include instances when 1) the patient is a clear danger to (a) themselves or (b) others; 2) instances when the patient is a minor (under the age of 18) and reports that he or she is or has been a victim of physical or sexual abuse; 3) there is any suspected abuse to a child or vulnerable adult.
In addition, cases are occasionally discussed by our professional staff to obtain feedback and provide alternative treatment plans and continuity of care. Also depending on licensure status, your therapist may discuss his/her cases with their supervisor.
