Our counselors believe it is through healthy relationships and connection with others that we live a full and authentic life. For many of us, our ability to connect with others has been deeply compromised by heartache, betrayal, rejection, neglect, abuse or trauma. This limits our ability to engage in emotional, relational and sexual intimacy and can result in addiction, further abuse and destroyed relationships.
At Rogue River Counseling our counselors help clients find their way back to the relationships that allow for love and growth. This path is through recovering from addiction, repairing betrayal, healing trauma and understanding our anger, rage, disappointment and hurt. Each of our counselors are uniquely trained to walk with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate this journey towards an unencumbered life that is full of freedom, intimacy and connection.
Meet Our Team
Our team comprises experienced, professional counselors
with a variety of counseling specialties.

Jason Hovey LCPC, CSAT-S
I started Rogue River Counseling because I believe that one of our most fundamental needs is connection. Knowing and being known. Those who come to our practice generally have had this connection completely undermined and destroyed. And some unfortunately have never really had the experience of being known, or the chance to know another. It is awe-inspiring for me to meet people as they begin to rise out of the ashes of relational distress, betrayal or addiction and begin to find true connection and the freedom to be authentically known and loved.
Before I became a counselor I was a business owner and a custom home builder. I am a husband, father and friend. These roles and experiences greatly influence how I function as a therapist and my understanding of the myriad of roles each person plays in life.

The wound is the place where the Light enters you." — Rumi
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing is always possible, even in the places that feel most broken. I offer a trauma-informed approach that honors the resilience of the human spirit while gently addressing the impact of developmental, relational, and betrayal trauma.
I work with individuals and couples, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). These approaches are powerful tools for resolving trauma that may feel stuck or unreachable through talk therapy alone.
I'm a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (APSATS), trained to support both those struggling with compulsive sexual behavior and the partners who have been deeply impacted by betrayal. In addition to individual and couple therapy, I facilitate support groups for betrayed partners—a space for connection, validation, and healing.
Whether you're navigating long-standing patterns, facing a crisis, or searching for deeper wholeness, my role is to walk beside you with compassion, skill, and hope.

It is within our lowest, most vulnerable moments that we can start the process of recovery and become more connected to our pain as well as joy. I believe in harnessing personal responsibility and self-reflection to become aware of what we are capable of as human beings. Inherently we are all looking for the person or persons who will and want to look for us in this world, and facilitate a shared connection.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and board certified and registered Art Therapist with the Art Therapy Credentials Board. I have taken basic training in attachment focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) through Dr. Laurel Parnell. I have taken Dr. Ken Adams' Overcoming Enmeshment training and am knowledgeable in enmeshment recovery. I have consulted with Kelly McDaniel around the concept of Mother Hunger attachment woundings. I have a Master's degree in Art Therapy & Counseling from Eastern Virginia Medical School (now part of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University). As an LCPC supervisor, I am able to conduct supervision with clinicians that have their LGPCs in the state of Maryland.
I bring to Rogue River a creative and explorative mindset to cultivate healing in an inherent and body-based way. Clients are free to express themselves through a range of different types of art media including paint, pastel, printmaking, clay, collage, pencil, mixed media, etc. I work with many top down and bottom up processes based on the individual and what works best for them.

I believe change is not just possible—it's necessary. As John C. Maxwell said, "Change is inevitable, growth is optional." My work is rooted in the belief that real growth begins with understanding and safety. I partner with clients to build spaces where healing can happen, working together to uncover the root causes of stress and emotional pain. I educate on how neurobiological responses to trauma shape behavior and perception, and I teach practical tools to help rewire thinking, reconnect to the nervous system, and build a lasting sense of internal safety. At the heart of my approach is the deep recognition that being seen and understood is a fundamental human need—one that can transform lives when genuinely met.
My journey began in substance abuse treatment, both professionally and through my own recovery. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's in Psychology. My continued education includes training in trauma and grief with Bessel van der Kolk, somatic interventions with Arielle Schwartz, and ongoing specialization in ADHD and neurofeedback. I've created workshops exploring the neurobiology of addiction and trauma and have been featured on several podcasts discussing sex addiction and the impact of trauma. My work is fueled by both curiosity and compassion, and I bring that energy into every space I enter—whether I'm working one-on-one with clients, teaching, or contributing to the larger conversation around healing and mental health.

My dedicated focus is helping people develop healthy, affirming relationship – to self, to others and to community. I am also a yoga teacher with over a decade of diverse experience. My practice centers around using mindfulness and somatic approaches to addressing, and overcoming, mental health obstacles.
I am a proud, LGBTQ+ identified therapist, and I enthusiastically welcome clients navigating sexual orientation, gender identify, self acceptance, body image struggles, open and polyamorous relationships. Also, as an Associate Sex Addition Therapist (ASAT), certified through IITAP, I help people address destructive relational patterns, compulsive sexual behaviors, and the devastating fallout of intimate partner betrayal. I create curious, relational space for people to work compassionately with obstacles to intimacy and connection.
My approach is lighthearted, relational and full of humor, warmth and acceptance. Come on in. Let's chat. The coffee is on, my couch is cozy, and I'm listening.

I am a strong believer in therapy being a collaborative, healing, and restorative experience. As Pema Chödrön once said, "Let difficulty transform you. And it will. In my experience, we just need help in learning how to not run away." But that's easier said than done – what are the steps to getting to a better place? Where do you even start? You are not alone in this journey. I take great pride in building a therapeutic connection and a safe space for you to be your genuine self so that you may find that resiliency within. I am passionate about helping my clients through those difficult moments and I want to help chip away at the harmful layers you've created for survival which no longer serve you.
I am a Black and Filipino-American therapist who takes pride in being multiculturally sensitive. My specialty areas include trauma healing, anxiety and depression, abuse, intimacy and betrayal, kink and alternative lifestyles, LGBTQ+, love and sex addiction, and family and relationship conflict. I welcome the unique qualities that make up each individual and believe that these qualities are hidden strengths that can be honed to navigate life in a healthy, manageable way.
My journey first started with obtaining a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). I proudly trained as a clinician at Trinity Washington University, gained experience as an intern at St. Elizabeths Hospital in D.C., and gained post-graduate experience at Johns Hopkins Children's Mental Health Center. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in both MD and DC, and I am certified in sex addiction therapy. I am also a certified sex therapist through the International Institute of Clinical Sexology.

I have the joy and privilege to know and walk beside so many incredible individuals as they find healing and experience resilience, growth, and change – it's the reason I fell in love with and pursued a career in counseling. The counseling space provides a safe place where one can look, non-judgmentally, at their life. It provides one with a place where one can process overwhelming and scary emotions, all while having the support and understanding from their counselor.
I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. I completed my undergraduate studies in Special Education and Counseling at the University of Memphis and completed my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at Milligan University. My area of interest lies in working with individuals who have experienced past abuse and are looking to find healing. My aim is to help clients reclaim their self and their sexual and romantic relationships. I also work with couples to help them navigate through the challenges that come with past sexual trauma and addiction. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) so that I might better help clients through this process.

Anna Boehk Director of Operations
Development is a passion, empathy a strength. From a young age, I have sought out relationships and opportunities that allow me to stretch and flex my talents in order to support and encourage a team and to nurture an environment of positivity and connectivity. Here at Rogue River, I am working steadfastly to develop a comfortable and safe atmosphere for the clinicians to do their best work in helping our clients.
I graduated from Franciscan University with two bachelor's degrees in English and Theology, and more recently from University of Maryland, College Park with a Master's in Library Science with a certification in Museum and Archive Scholarship.
As you can see, I love research, organization, serving others, and interpersonal connection – which makes my position here at Rogue River a perfect fit for me. Outside of the office, I am a chaser of good literature, a keeper of a rambunctious calico cat, and a caretaker of a wild herb garden.
